Frequently asked questions

Do you accept insurance or medicare/medicaid?

No. Hózhó Psychiatry & Wellness does not accept insurance or generate super bills for insurance reimbursement, I also cannot serve people who are enrolled with Medicare or Medicaid. As a membership only practice, I am able to offer services typically not covered by insurance and will be more able to focus on you, not what brings in the highest insurance reimbursement. You deserve better and I am offering better. If you have insurance, you may use it for medications, labs, and referrals.

You will be asked to supply credit card information to have on file when you schedule your discovery call. You will not be charged at that time. Charges will occur at the time of your intake/assessment appointment. After that time, you can elect to pay with credit card, debit card, check, cash, or Zelle. You will have to check with your FSA/HSA carrier to verify if they will allow reimbursement.

Hózhó Psychiatry & Wellness does NOT replace your health insurance. Although I see patients regardless of their insurance status, I strongly recommend you maintain your coverage to cover other or larger or urgent/emergency medical care you may need. And as mentioned above, your insurance may be used to cover the cost of medications, labs, and referrals.

Yes! Do you have your doctor’s cell phone number? Are you able to get an appointment when you need one? Do they see you on time? Do they spend more than 15 minutes with you? Can you text them if you have a follow-up question? Does their office return calls? Does your doctor respond directly to your questions? Have you ever struggled to get help with a prior authorization? Have you ever gotten a bill for something you thought was covered (facility fees)? Were you charged extra to have a form completed, for a brief phone call/email/text, or to refill a medication? Were you charged for a cancelled/missed appointment? Did your doctor spend most of the appointment looking at their computer and charting (no judgement here, this a symptom of the system insurance has created). Hózhó Psychiatry & Wellness provides you with quality mental health care, quick and convenient access, things that insurance-based mental health care simply can’t provide.

Although I am providing a concierge level of care, Hózhó Psychiatry & Wellness is modeled after direct primary care (DPC) practices, rather than a traditional concierge practice. The primary difference between these two models is that concierge practices still bill your insurance and collect copays in addition to their “retainer” or membership fee. Concierge fees are typically paid annually rather than month-to-month.

I do not offer non-member consultations/visits, however membership does not require any long-term commitment and can be terminated with 30-days notice if you feel your healthcare needs have been met and you do not need ongoing care.

Hózhó Psychiatry & Wellness offers a unique, personalized approach to mental health care through our monthly membership model. This fee ensures you receive the benefit of a true doctor-patient partnership, where there is ample time to address your concerns, and the focus is on understanding the full picture of your mental health. This model also encourages seamless communication with your doctor, making it easier for you to access mental health care in a timelier manner and connect directly with your doctor.

When you get to the place that mental health symptoms are no longer impacting your functioning or are no longer life interfering, great! We did our job and I am so thrilled that you are at this place now! Almost all of us have things we want to continue to improve about our health though. The reality is that meaningful improvements in health don’t happen after 2-3 30 minutes appts per year, or even a one-time consultation – they require unrushed, personalized care and consistent follow-up. Our membership model is designed to foster long-term mental health care and a comfortable, trusting relationship between you and your doctor.

I’m glad to work with you again! Depending on how long you have been gone though, and what has transpired while you were away, we may need to start at the beginning again vs with a re-enrollment fee.

Appointments are vital to address your mental health. If you need to cancel or reschedule a psychotherapy or medication management session, please contact me at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. This allows me to offer this time to someone else if needed. Things come up or an appointment slips our mind, I understand, but a missed/late cancelled appt would not result in any additional charges (possibly a stern conversation to give me a heads-up next time). More than a couple of missed/late cancelled appts, we will be having a conversation about whether this is a good fit for you and if you should continue in this care model.

Although I will not be able to provide weekly psychotherapy, I know many knowledgeable, highly trained, and competent psychologists in the community. I can offer contacts to highly skilled psychologists who should be able to address your higher level of psychotherapy needs.

Hózhó Psychiatry & Wellness was designed primarily with women in mind; however, I am happy to see patients of all genders. “Can you see my partner?” Not currently. I want you to feel like my care is unbiased and a safe place for you. With time, as this practice grows and I am able to hire another psychiatrist, then we will be able to see your partner.

I provide virtual visits as well as in-person visits. In-person visits occur at my private office located at:

860 Blue Gentian Road, Suite 200, Eagan, MN 55121.
